What is Craniosacral Therapy?
In today’s fast-paced world, our bodies often carry more stress and strain than we realize.
Headaches, jaw tension, chronic pain, anxiety, poor sleep—all of these can be signs that the nervous system is overwhelmed.
One therapy that addresses these issues in a uniquely gentle way is craniosacral therapy (CST).
What Is Craniosacral Therapy?
CST is a light-touch, non-invasive therapy that works with the craniosacral system—the membranes and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. By releasing restrictions in this system, CST helps the body’s natural healing processes function more effectively.
Touch is healing…the right touch can change your life.
How It Works
During a session, a trained therapist uses subtle hand placements—often on the head, spine, or sacrum—to detect and release patterns of tension. Many people describe the experience as deeply relaxing, even meditative. These CST techniques focus on the nervous system and various responses to light touch. Patients will sometimes experience a relief of symptoms even in other places in the body, not where the therapist’s hands are at that time. The goal is to help reset the body’s natural response to healing and calm the nervous system down to get out of the “fight or flight” mentality.
Fun fact: Research has proven that the same amount of energy produced in between the therapists (or anyone’s) 2 hands touching another person, is the same amount of energy required to have a positive change for healing of tissues. No wonder kids run to their parents to “kiss the boo-boo” after an injury. The parent really DOES have a healing touch!
Benefits of Craniosacral Therapy
CST can support a wide range of conditions and wellness goals, including:
Relief from headaches, migraines, and TMJ dysfunction
stress and anxiety
sleep and nervous system regulation
Support during recovery from injury or surgery
Gentle care for postpartum mothers and children
Chronic pain or chronic fatigue
Brain fog
Memory issues
Scar tissue and fascial restrictions from past injuries
Why try CST?
Unlike more aggressive treatments, CST allows the body to guide the healing process. The therapy works with your system, not against it, making it safe and effective for people of all ages…”from womb to tomb” 🙂
If you’re looking for a holistic way to restore balance, ease discomfort, and reconnect with your body, craniosacral therapy may be exactly what you need.
